Stamford, Texas
Stamford is a city in Jones County, in the rolling farm and ranch country of west-central Texas about 42 miles north of Abilene. Thousands of acres of surrounding farmland are given over largely to cotton, and the town has long served as a shipping and ginning center for the crop. Stamford is best known as the home of the Texas Cowboy Reunion, a rodeo and Western-heritage gathering held each summer around the Fourth of July that draws cowboys and spectators from across the region.
