Lake Jackson, Texas
Lake Jackson is a city in Brazoria County on the upper Gulf Coast, roughly 42 miles southwest of Galveston and within reach of the Houston metropolitan area. The city developed in the mid-20th century as a planned community tied to the petrochemical industry along the lower Brazos River, and chemical manufacturing remains central to its economy. Its low coastal-plain setting places it near the Gulf shore, the Brazos River, and the marshlands and wildlife refuges of the coast.
