Falfurrias, Texas

Falfurrias is a city in Brooks County, on the flat brush country of the South Texas plains about 60 miles southwest of Corpus Christi. The town grew up around ranching on the surrounding sandy grassland, and its name became widely associated with Falfurrias sweet-cream butter, first produced there from a local creamery and dairy herd. The area is also known as a checkpoint on the highway routes running north out of the Rio Grande Valley through the South Texas ranchlands.
