Bend of the River Gives Temple a Leon River Park

Reuben D. Talasek Bend of the River is 30 acres on the Leon River. Bernice Talasek and her family donated it to Temple in 2011 in memory of Reuben Talasek.

The land carries more than scenery. The ranch had been a gathering place for civic and family events, and state and national visitors came through.

For Temple, the river access is the point. Many city park trips are ball fields, trails, or playgrounds. Bend of the River adds a different kind of outdoor place: open land tied directly to the Leon.
