Getting a Marriage License in Walker County

Walker County issues marriage licenses by appointment at 1100 University Avenue, Suite 201, in Huntsville. Appointment windows fall on weekdays in the morning and early afternoon.

Bring valid ID and a way to pay by cash or credit card. As of July 1, 2026, the marriage license fee is $81. With a Twogether in Texas certificate, the total drops to $21.

Texas usually makes couples wait 72 hours after the license is issued. A judge can waive the wait. Exceptions also cover a premarital course, active military, and U.S. Department of Defense employment. The license expires if it is not used before the 90th day.
