The 2026 business-property exemption changes Tom Green renditions

Texas may tax inventory, furniture, fixtures, machines, tools, and other property used to earn income. A new rule began in 2026. Qualifying property gets a $125,000 exemption under rules tied to its location and taxing unit. Property fully covered by that rule does not need a rendition.

If taxable property remains, April 15 is the usual deadline. A written request filed on time extends many renditions to May 15. The chief appraiser may grant 15 more days for good cause, while some regulated property follows a different deadline.
